First of all - congrats on your upcoming move to Naples! I created this site because when I was planning our move to Italy I couldn't find one place that gave me all the help/answers I needed. When reading this page, keep in mind that we traveled to Italy because of a military move, so that is the direction this site is geared. If you are moving to Italy as a civilian, you may still find some of the information helpful but not all of it will apply to you.
Information on the pages is updated all the time - so check back often.

Buona fortuna!!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for creating this site. It was SO helpful in helping us determine whether we wanted to take the post in Naples or not. I really appreciate the time you took to create this.
Thanks again!
Cindy
Did you decide to go or not? We are currently in that position ...
DeleteThis site brought me some peace of mind! Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteGreat info. Useful! What about house plants? Coming to Hawaii we had to remove all soil. Grazie as we are moving to Naples from Hi during the fall of 2015. BTW, living in economy..recommendations?
ReplyDeleteBleusha, I'm not sure about plants, but I would imagine plants are on the list of things you cannot bring. We had planters we used outside and we had to empty them completely and wash them out before our movers would pack them.
DeleteLiving on economy. Specifically for you any recommendations? Retired Marine now a GS worker @ Capodichino. Grazie for your blog. So helpful.
DeleteDon't move to Naples if possible. The entire region has been a toxic waste dump for the mob since the 90s. They still burn toxic trash and the smoke makes you sick. My friend was put in the hospital because of the polluted air. You can't eat the food or use the water from the entire region. The Navy recommends no tours over 3 years and to live on the 2ND floor of off base housing because of the toxic land. So far, 50 some communities have been identified as contaminated, but the unfortunate people have no where to go. Cancer rates are considerably higher in the entire Naples region. The Navy should move their operations away from this cess-pool. I'm sorry for all the Service members who have to compromise their health and family's health for this rotten area and drank the contaminated water and ate the contaminated food for decades before the report came out in 2013. There are lots of articles on the web about it, but the Navy did a study and then put the whole issue to rest because they figure no one will press the issue...
ReplyDeleteYou are the MAN for posting all of this. I was stationed in Naples from 2002-2004 and I'm going back this summer...I'm sure it's changed a lot! I'm going with my own family this time so all this info was very helpful. I'm not really excited about living and working in Naples again (except for the food) but I am excited to get to tour around Europe with my family. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the weather like in Naples? We are moving there in June 2017. W
